Andrew Penney, RPF

Division Manager, Natural Resources

Andrew Penney is a Registered Professional Forester recognized by the Canadian Institute of Forestry as a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Professional Foresters Association. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry from the University of New Brunswick, as well as a Technical Forest Diploma from the College of the North Atlantic in Newfoundland and Labrador. In addition to his education, he has eleven years of work experience in various sectors of the forest industry, and has extensive experience in project management. This has given Andrew the knowledge and skills required to implement a wide variety of services including forest resource inventory, timber development, timber valuation, and large scale silviculture programs.

Andrew has been involved with several large scale forest inventory projects in the past, with specific focus on forest polygon delineation, forest stand attribute estimation (i.e. photo interpretation) using softcopy technology and the implementation of field verification plots. These inventory projects have ranged in location from various areas in British Columbia, Northwest Territories, Manitoba, Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador. Andrew has 10+ years of soft copy forest interpretation experience.

Andrew is currently certified by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources for (1) ecological land classification photo interpretation for Boreal Forests (2) ecological land classification photo interpretation for the Great Lakes – St. Lawrence Region and (3) ecological land classification into calibration plot methodology. Andrew has been in the role of Project Manager, Lead Interpreter and Internal Quality Auditor for all forest interpretation projects completed by Resource Innovations.
